Come Celebrate National Honey Bee Day - Saturday, August 17, 2019


The 7th Annual Tour de Hives is a public event hosted by the Bee Friendly Foundation!

Calling all ARTISTS!

We want to FEATURE YOU at this year's 7th Annual Tour de Hives event! We are going to have a PUBLIC ART COMPETITION! We are giving you LOTS of advance notice so you can take your time and really do it BIG! You will PAINT/DESIGN/ETC a beehive, it will be entered into the competition, which will feature an ART WALK TOUR! There WILL be prizes, fame, and recognition for the winners!!! 🙂

How do I ENTER the ART HIVE Competition???
STEP 2 - Make $20 payment
STEP 3 - Pick up the bee box at Bee Friendly Austin Apiary
STEP 4 - Paint exterior surfaces of the bee box
STEP 5 - Return painted box to Texas Honey Bee Farm by FRIDAY August 16th.
How to pick up box:
  • Go to the Texas Honey Bee Farm during business hours Thursday-Monday to pay $20 and pick up your box to paint

Everyone who attends the event will receive 3 Tickets (VOTES) which they will use to VOTE on their favorite ART HIVE. They can put all the tix on just 1 hive, or split them up, however they decide to vote. After the voting is completed, all hives will be raffled in a silent auction with proceeds going to fund bee education and research in Texas!

There will also be plenty of activities happening throughout the day as well. We will have guest speakers presenting on various bee helpful topics all day long in our air-conditioned classroom! Live bees everywhere, this is a working apiary! Honey & Mead tasting! Vendors with fun hive related things for sale! A silent auction and raffles. Honey Queens and Princesses to meet and so much more!

Art Hive Voting - 3 entry categories:

Youth 10 - 18 years (Middle/High School)

Adults 19+ years

Professional Artists


All registered attendees receive 3 colored tickets for each group. Split them within the group or put all 3 in your favorite. Winner in each group determined by most votes
Voting ends at 1:30 pm 

This event is a yearly fundraiser with proceeds dedicated to helping bees, beekeepers, public education, and bee research. Please make checks or donations payable to Bee Friendly Foundation.

Bee Friendly Foundation was founded in 2013 and exists to increase public awareness of the value of bees, to promote the humane treatment of bees, to educate beekeepers, encourage good bee management practices and good relations between beekeepers and the public, and to support scientific education and research.  Bee Friendly Foundation is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping the honey bees, improving beekeeper education, and funding bee research.
